It has little to do with re-activation and lots to do with piracy.

It's clear from that thread that the reason most licenses are "revoked" is simply that the software is pirated, so when re-installed, it does not pass Adobe's current verification methods.

But when a pc crashes, you can't do that and is still activated! That's why Adobe advices to deactivate the license before you uninstall. That's why you need to call Adobe and have them reset the counter.

if you allready have 2 installs activated, you can't install a third time. If you don't deactivate before uninstalling or whatever, the computer is still seen as activated. The systems sometimes need complete restart because of new hardware or other reasons, this already takes so much time and effort that I'd simply skip all the uninstallation/deactivation steps. I also have a personal take on this - I have so much software that if everybody started to practice the deactivation I'd simply go crazy. I purchased directly from Adobe.Īs I understand the OP had a software issue so that things might just got wiped out rather than deactivated. I just re-entered the license found on the box and intalled just fine.

I reinstalled CS6(creative suite 6) on my Windows 10 computer and didn't have any problems at all. Luckily my CS6 is working fine at this time.Ī lot of people seem to have the same problem: I want through hoops to reinstall my CS6 but finally was able to wade through enough screens and avoiding Adobe's misdirection in order to reinstall.īecause of Adobe's over the top push for their cloud products I will buy and learn something else rather than ever go back to their cloud rental. They will resort to as much hardball tactics as possible to get conversions to subscription.

The default for Adobe is to make it as hard as possible to be able to use the CS versions when a reinstall is required. Maybe policies have changed over the years but revoking a license because his computer crashed seems a bit strong to me. American support however revoked his license. I had this situation twice and explained what happend en they reset the counter for me without hesitation so I could install the creative suite again. It seems America(India) is not as accommodating as the European support apparently. This would be a third time activation wich is NOT allowed. This is a different story where a computer crashed and you try to re-install on a new pc or a new harddrive, while the license allready had been activated twice. You have activated and deactivated yourself. I don't know why it would be different depending on which country you're in. I have several Macs and several Windows machines and have activated and deactivated both CS6 and the various CC versions via the deactivation function of the software numerous times over the past few years with no issues whatsoever. Since I was able to load my previous CS5 version with no problem, I did not accept their offer. Their answer was it was a correct number but it had been revoked and they would sell me a cloud version. I contacted Adobe and after a 20 minute wait, I was connected to an overseas service office. After poking around in the Adobe site, I received an alert that stated that my license was "revoked". I entered my license and nothing happened. While trying to recover from my S/W problem, I tried to down load a copy of CS6 (which I have owned since it was first released).
